ART SPACE BYRON is growing. We’re looking for two people to join our team in our heritage building at 44 Byron Street, Inverell — helping regional audiences connect with Australian and Korean contemporary art.
Gallery Assistant
A welcoming and organised person to support the daily running of the gallery and our exhibitions, events and workshops.
Your duties will include
- Welcoming visitors and providing information about artists and exhibitions
- Assisting with artwork enquiries, sales and record keeping
- Supporting exhibition preparation, artwork handling and packing under supervision
- Assisting with artist talks, workshops and opening events
- Updating exhibition information, mailing lists and social media
- Maintaining a tidy, accessible and welcoming gallery
- General administrative support to the gallery team
About you: friendly communication and customer service skills, attention to detail and basic computer skills, an interest in art and community engagement, and a reliable, collaborative approach. Gallery, retail, hospitality or events experience is helpful, and transferable skills are welcome. Availability for occasional weekend or evening events would be valued.

Gallery Curator
Working with the Gallery Director to develop exhibitions and public programs — including temporary, site-responsive installations that respond to the building’s history, architecture and local connections.
You will
- Research and develop exhibition concepts and interpretive content
- Identify and liaise with artists regarding proposed exhibitions
- Coordinate artwork selection, loans, documentation and display requirements
- Work with artists and installation specialists to prepare exhibitions
- Develop artist talks, workshops and educational activities
- Contribute to exhibition publications, funding proposals and project reports
About you: qualifications or experience in curating, art history, visual arts or a related field; strong research, writing and organisational skills; an interest in contemporary art, installation practice and regional audiences; the ability to work respectfully with artists from diverse cultural backgrounds; and an understanding of artwork handling and presentation. Experience with international collaborations or heritage spaces is welcome.

갤러리 큐레이터 — 갤러리 디렉터와 함께 전시 기획과 해설 콘텐츠 개발, 작가 섭외, 작품 선정·대여·기록, 설치 준비, 교육 프로그램 개발, 도록과 지원금 신청서 작성을 맡습니다. 큐레이팅·미술사·시각예술 관련 학위나 경력이 필요하며, 해외 작가와의 협업이나 역사적 공간에서의 전시 경험이 있으면 우대합니다.
